Underbite

  • When the upper front teeth are behind the lower front teeth instead of ahead of the lower front teeth like normal there is an underbite, also known as an anterior crossbite.
  • This is usually the result of the upper jaw not growing forward as much as normal and is often the result of an orofacial myofunctional disorder.
  • The front teeth cannot bite properly which results in a significant compromise in function.
