Live. Laugh. Smile.

Meet Dr. Rix

Dr. Rix has been creating beautiful smiles as a specialist in orthodontics since 1999. He believes that treating orthodontic issues should include identifying and eliminating the cause of the problems. Orthodontic problems are mostly caused by genetic and environmental influences that result in an orofacial myofunctional disorder which in turn alters the normal growth of the jaws and teeth. Improving his patient’s health issues that are related to orthodontic development and treatment is a passionate interest for Dr. Rix.

Orthodontics
Connects Whole Health

Appropriate orthodontic treatment can often improve breathing, sleep, speech, bedwetting, attention issues, anxiety, jaw joint and facial pain, neck/shoulder/upper back tension or pain, headaches, clenching, grinding, eating and swallowing issues, thumb sucking and other poor oral habits, and more. An orofacial myofunctional disorder is often an underlying cause of these issues.

Orthodontics Is More
Than Straight Teeth

Orthodontic treatment should provide a well-fitting, functional, and stable bite as well as a pleasing smile. Teeth should be nicely aligned, but attention should also be given to providing a pleasing profile, facial symmetry, well-supported lips, a relaxed facial expression, and pain-free facial muscles and jaw joints.

Healthy Smiles
Early In Life

When a child’s jaws and teeth are not developing normally or there are sleep issues or there is mouth breathing, interceptive orthodontic treatment between the ages of 3 to 10 years is important. Correcting the growth and the development at this early age can eliminate or greatly simplify later treatment. Over half the patients in our practice are these young children which enables the greatest improvement in facial growth and the many symptoms associated with poor facial growth and function.
