Dr. Rix

Douglas Rix, DDS, MCID

I love being an orthodontist. There is tremendous satisfaction in transforming the smiles of my patients and seeing the difference it makes in their lives. It is a privilege for me to get to know my patients and be a part of their lives through the course of treatment.

Orthodontics is a challenging field. I am dedicated to keeping up with the latest techniques and technologies. Each patient has a unique problem with their bite and aesthetics that requires me to think creatively to plan and execute the best treatment for them.

My practice philosophy is centered on educating my patients about their treatment and providing that treatment in an honest, friendly, and relaxed environment. There are often choices in treatment and my patients are involved in making these choices. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve a great smile.

Education and Experience

Before becoming an orthodontist, I was a civil engineer. My engineering training and experience has enriched my education in dentistry and orthodontics. I graduated from the University of Alberta in Dentistry in 1993 and after practicing general dentistry for several years, I completed my specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Western Ontario in 1999. I frequently take continuing education to keep up with the advances in the field of orthodontics. In support of my profession, I was on the executive board of the Calgary and District Dental Society for six years, including a term as president, as well as serving a term with the executive board of the Alberta Society of Orthodontists.
